I've had a rockin' couple of days with Rachel. It's gone really well and all my hired friends have done an amazing job of pretending that we've known each other for years. I think Rachel is really convinced that I actually socialise sometimes Thanks guys ;)

Rachel arrived on Wednesday evening and what better way to introduce her to my home life than to take her to see the sights and sounds of Manchester, Sainsbury's, Fallowfield store. I thought the sheer excitement of it might be a bit much for her what with all the travelling but she somehow dealt with the bewildering city lights of the Sainsbury's store. We just spent the first night catching up, eating houmous and falafel and watching a few episodes of Heroes. Thursday night involved a trip to Dan/Ian/Soph's flat (and once again admiring the place. If I do end up staying in Manchester I'd be very tempted to move there...), Hardys and then back to the flat for chatting and drinks. Most enjoyable.

Tonight I'm going to spam people to come round and watch films/drink/etc. New Resident Evil and MST3K for the ultimate in mocking bad films goodness ;)

Finally weekend Sep. 7th, 2007 @ 12:21 pm
Thank god. Another day in this job without a break would seriously kill me right now. I'm struggling to find any energy to come in or do work whilst I'm here (They're just lucky that the tedium of doing nothing at all is something that I need to break up somehow), though working in a room by myself probably isn't helping. It's nice not having to deal with the annoyingly chirpy new starters or some of the people who have dubious morals but I guess being forced to interact with these people stops you from dwelling on other things. Le fun.

Tonight I'm heading to Fab with various Manchester hobos to meet la Tamara before heading on to Friday Flock. Should be fun :) Tomorrow will hopefully involve a Sheffield visit and then that's my weekend accounted for. Potentially fun and all that :)

Next week should involve a venue visit for fragM, a business meeting for the larger event and lots more stress. Le woot!

» The weather is *glorious*
It's actually pretty nasty outside but I'm in a very good mood today. Woke up to a nice message on my phone which has set me up for the day :) Certainly better than my usual morning starts.

In other news, last night we popped to the pub for Beth's leaving drinks. Seems that her workmates suck @ RL and failed to turn up themselves, but the rest of us made up for it by drinking lots of tasty belgian beers at Big Hands. Eventually headed home to play with my shiny new N95 phone (only nearly a year after I first wanted one, damnit) and more importantly, to spend some quality time on MSN. If this carries on I might do something crazy like actually *smile* or something sometime soon. Watch out.

Today is probably going to drag quite a lot for various reasons. Really looking forward to the weekend though :)

It's amazing what a walk home from work can do to clear your head. It's certainly a nice feeling compared to the almost drug-trip like qualities of the tiredness and caffeine combination this morning.

I guess you'd have thought I'd learn my lesson by now. Obviously not :)
» Infest and life update...
Infest was pretty rocking this year. Virtually no drama and instead just a solid weekend spent drinking/cavorting with friends. I hardly made a fool of myself either, though there was at least one misunderstanding. Le fun :)

Predictably, I only managed to see one band (that's one band more than last year though). Apoptygma were actually amazing live. I guess all the dodgy live CDs don't really give you an appreciation for how good a band can actually be when you're there amongst 'all the action'. I'm definitely going to make an effort to catch them should they play again anytime soon. I was going to see VNV too, but the joy of just sitting in the pub and saying "urgh" repeatedly overwhelmed any desire I might have had to move downstairs on Sunday.

I guess the other highlight of the weekend was calling Chrisptofu Johntofu all weekend in appreciating for his lack of ability to remember names. I'm sure he enjoyed every second of it ;) You probably had to be there...

This week I'm going to be working hideous amounts of overtime in a desperate attempt to stop my wallet crying from all the abuse it suffered this weekend. Then, if all goes well, I'm popping down to Sheffield on Saturday. Le woot :)

I'm kind of worried that there's some kind of birthday or something coming up that I've completely forgotten about. Hmm...

I'm somewhat knackered today after staying up till 2.30am or so chatting on MSN, followed by being woken up at about 4am by our neighbours singing Irish folk songs. They were still partying at whatever time I left for work this morning, too.
» Weekend
Well, I'm done with that part of the weekend where I'm sociable ;)

Friday was one of the best nights I've had in a long, long time. Matt's party was middling, but heading back here afterwards and staying up till 10am the next day drinking/cavorting/chatting was fun. Quite nice to just have a smallish group to blah around with.

Saturday involved trying to stay awake with my whole 30 minutes of sleep and heading down to Naomi's party. It was okay, I guess.... Though it quickly reminded me of why I took a huge break from bothering with the "scene" and such. It's pretty pathetic that some gimp's rumours/lies are circulating from Whitby or so (TWO years ago). Pissed me off a fair bit and, as said, reminded me why most people you meet in clubs are people you can be polite to but no more (this isn't aimed at the person that repeated the crappo in my hearing). Asking for trouble and being drawn into petty quarrels otherwise. Was great to see Tamara/Matt and Naomi/Neil though.

Today I'm unsurprisingly just a little tired (no sleep for two days ftw) and I'm planning on avoiding doing anything constructive if at all possible.
» Hmmmm....
Well, I'm feeling relatively normal again. Not sure why I was so up and down yesterday... I felt blah enough to want to go to bed at 9pm but later perked up to the point where I had to force myself to go to sleep at 2.30am. I still feel pretty good today, too.

Hey, it may be a boring revelation but you set yourself up for that when you made the mistake of starting to read one of my posts ;)

Quite looking forward to this weekend, though I'm still undecided about Saturday. I really should just stay in Manchester and have a quiet night but I'm never very good at doing the right thing in those situations..

Just another week until Infest. It's quite out of character for me but I'm really excited about it. It'll be damn cool to spend time hanging around and chatting, especially with the people I don't live with anymore... Not to mention certain person/s that I've not had a chance to chat properly with before.

I predict a day of doing very little actual real work. A shocking change of form.
